The guests from France who visited recently said,
“We’re so glad we could do this matcha experience today — our flight leaves early tomorrow morning!”
They were full of smiles as they left, and later I noticed they had already uploaded two lovely photos of themselves on Instagram.
Yesterday morning, another group arrived — three guests of Iranian nationality who currently live in Germany. They came early, pulling their suitcases, and said,
“Sorry, we brought our luggage — is that okay?”
Just before leaving, they mentioned they had to catch the 12:00 Shinkansen to Tokyo and then head to Narita Airport.
I truly admired their spirit — wanting to enjoy one last special experience in Kyoto before departing Japan.
They told me how much they love matcha and that they always whisk it at home. They were delighted to take home a bamboo whisk with their initials on a small charm — a lovely keepsake from their time in Kyoto.
It was also their first time wearing samue (traditional Japanese workwear), and they enjoyed taking photos in it. When I explained that this type of clothing is worn by masters in films like Star Wars, and that samurai generals wore similar garments under their armor before going into battle, they were so impressed and moved.
Later, the French couple sent me a message:
“Thank you so much! We found a beautiful samue — we love it!”

And there is one more thing that always makes our guests happy to take something home — the premium Uji matcha we use during the experience.
This is not supermarket-grade matcha, but a fresh, artisan-quality tea carefully sourced and shared in small amounts exclusively with our guests.
Because of its rich color, deep aroma, and smooth taste, it is extremely popular — and sells out every week.
Each guest leaves not only with memories, but with a taste of authentic Kyoto to continue their tea journey at home. 🌿
